CHIEF'S CORNER
Greetings!
To all of you of the Red & Black persuasion,
First, I give all honors to God for the many blessings untold. To my Illustrious Septem Brothers, the National Grand Chapter, General Council, Regional and State Directors, Chapter Presidents, and members your hard work, talents, and skills are deeply appreciated and I thank God for you!
We have embarked upon a remarkable journey. With great speed, though meticulously and cautiously, we have created the first national percussion fraternity in the world! The fraternity is fully incorporated, with by-laws, a constitution, staffed, operational, and an ever expanding membership. We are now, and forever, a part of history. With enthusiasm we have ceremoniously initiated into the Red & Black, worthy individuals, more than any other fraternal organization during their initial lines and infancy stage. I'm proud to say I am a Mu Phi Panther! Our work has only just begun. As we roll up our sleeves, and undertake the tasks of expanding this organization, preserving our craft, imparting our gifts upon the youth, helping our communities, and being good stewards of our many blessings, let us not forget the purpose of our fraternal bonding and the oaths we took. Let our codes, grips, secrets, passwords, and symbolic meanings resonate internally to motivate us to make a difference in the world.
We Mu Phi Panthers are relevant from the local to national stage. We have Mu Phi Panthers that tread across the White House lawn and the hallowed ground of Arlington Cemetery, at the behest of the President of the United States, equipped with only a drum and God given talent. We have Panthers who have graced the entertainment stage nationally and internationally touching millions of lives through recordings, live performances, and television.
Throughout the many weekends during the Fall season, we have Panthers who take to the fields of collegiate and NFL stadiums to display their talents in support of universities and professional teams. We have Mu Phi Panthers that contribute to the youth through mentorship with programs at places of worship, cooperation with social organizations, drumline exhibitions, showcases, and competitions. We are college students, business men & women, graphic artist, analyst, chefs, authors, producers, teachers, writers, professors, engineers, religious leaders, clerks, laborers, and of course musicians. But equally as important, we are Mu Phi Sigma National Percussion Fraternity, Inc., a Fraternity bound by greatness.
Whether you are a cymbalist, pianist, drummer, tap, or hip-hop dancer, beat-maker, or record producer, you contribute to the art of rhythm. Rhythm is life and life is rhythm. Our planet rotates on it's axis, revolving around the sun on a time signature. We were conceived on a rhythmic pattern. We become the purveyors of happiness through the tempos and sounds we produce. We have the ability to evoke every emotion known with the very makeup of the human soul. Glad are we, as the world dances to our gifts and talent. We are the heartbeat which forces all other instrumentations to unify, in some form or structure, to our tempo. Thus bringing to life, Music. How Sweet it is!
As we look toward the future we must reflect on the greatness of our Creator, whom hath endowed us with the talents in the first place for we are living testaments of the Creator's greatness. We must continue to strive to do what is considered good works unto God and all mankind. I am excited about this legacy of historical momentousness, and we are very excited about every individual who desires to see the Seven Stars and lend a gifted hand in rhythm and perfection!
Fall Back! Fall Back! Here comes that drum frat, who' that? Mu Phiiiiiii with that Rat-ta-tat-tat!
God bless each of you, and may God continue to bless Mu Phi Sigma!
Eternally, rhythmically, and fraternally bonded,
D'Extra Wiley, MΦΣ-★7
