HISTORY OF Mu Phi Sigma Fraternity

On June 23, 2009 Chief Illustrious Founder, D'Extra Wiley began to architect a vision shown to him by GOD; a brotherhood of percussionists and keyboard instrumentalist. As a member of the elite often imitated but never duplicated Norfolk State University drumline MDFS (snare), it was only fitting for Chief to sow the seeds with his drumline brothers. With an excitement and enthusiasm for such a fraternity, Illustrious Ron Bolling and Illustrious Brian Brickhouse were initially contacted. The Chief and Chairman then contacted Illustrious Myles Overton III, Illustrious Emmanuel Thomas, Illustrious J. D. Blair, and Illustrious Andrew Jones Jr. These brothers are the six first founding fathers and makeup the Septem. They serve as the advisory board to the Fraternity.

The Chief and Chairman worked hard and freverelsy to make this fraternity a reality. He went on to author the Constitution and By-Laws, incorporate the fraternity, and create the entire logistical makeup of this illustrious organization. He inspires, motivates, and encourages others to live up to their best potential, trust in God, and go for their dreams. The rest, as they say, "Is History".

MISSION Statement

Mu Phi Sigma is fully constitutionally governed and incorporated with a mission to set goals of achievement and to promote excellence in all fields and endeavors of each individual member, especially in the field of music, performance arts, and the entertainment industry. Mu Phi Sigma brothers act as mentors to younger generations, vowing to always share and pass down a measure of their skills and experiences to the next generation. Whether that is on a field, on a stage, in a place of worship, or one on one, a brother or fraternal sister of our fraternity seeks to mold that young musician into a better version of themselves through mentorship.

We the brothers and fraternal sisters of Mu Phi Sigma Fraternity,  take pride in being the first national percussion fraternity. Our numbers have grown, and we are headed to a bright new future because of the solid foundation that has been laid for us.
